Location
The fully integrated transmission control unit is integrated in the fully integrated transmission control controller unit which is located in the oil pan at the bottom of the transmission.
Tasks
The fully integrated transmission control unit determines the current operating condition of the vehicle and actuates all gear change sequences taking shifting comfort and the driving situation into consideration.
A separate independent diagnostic system is integrated in the fully integrated transmission control unit.
The tasks are subdivided as follows:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Sending signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct lines
- drivetrain CAN (CAN C)
Direct lines
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Turbine wheel RPM sensor (Y3/8n1)
- Rpm sensor for internal input speed (Y3/8n2)
- Output shaft RPM sensor (Y3/8n3)
- Selection range sensor (Y3/8s1)
- Transmission oil temperature sensor (Y3/8s2)
drivetrain CAN
The following signals are read in via e.g. the drivetrain CAN:
- Enable for drive authorization system stage 3 (DAS 3) (up to 31.08.2015)
- Enable for drive authorization system stage 4 (DAS 4) (as of 01.09.2015)
- Wheel speeds and direction of rotation
- Set braking torque
- Vehicle lateral acceleration at the center of gravity
- Cruise control mode
- ESP® specified torque
- Status of brake pedal
- Selector lever status
- Requests for catalytic converter heating
- Shift request
- Engine torque
- Engine coolant temperature
- Engine speed
- Kickdown
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Working pressure control solenoid valve (Y3/8y1)
- Clutch control solenoid valve K1 (Y3/8y2)
- Clutch control solenoid valve K2 (Y3/8y3)
- Clutch control solenoid valve K3 (Y3/8y4)
- Multidisk brake control solenoid valve B1 (Y3/8y5)
- Multidisk brake control solenoid valve B2 (Y3/8y6)
- Multidisk brake control solenoid valve B3 (Y3/8y7)
- Torque converter lockup clutch control solenoid valve (Y3/8y8)
Sending signals
The following signals are sent via e.g. the drivetrain CAN:
- Transmission mode selection
- Request for gear range "R", "N", "D"
- Wheel torque factor, overall gear ratio
- Actual gear, target gear
- Transmission variant
- Drive position
- Engine torque reduction request
- Starter enable in selector lever position "P" or "N"
- Transmission limp-home mode
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
