Overview

This document contains information on:

Versions of alternatively powered vehicles

The hybrid vehicle is a hybrid of conventional and electric drive components. Fossil fuel serves as the energy carrier and, in the case of a plug-in hybrid, the high-voltage battery as well.

Alternative drives differ from conventional drives in terms of the energy source used or in terms of the use of electrical drive components. The aim of alternative drive concepts is to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and the associated environmental pollution or to avoid it entirely. A high-voltage on-board network enables the electrical machine for the electrical drive to be operated.

It is driven by the electric machine. Hydrogen serves as an energy carrier. A fuel cell converts the chemical energy stored in hydrogen into electrical energy.
