General
Depending on the equipment, all doors or only the doors in the rear can be opened and closed via an electric drive. The following components are required:
- Drive unit in the door
- Pull/pressure switch in the roof lining
- Comfort door control unit
- KEYLESS-GO
- Power closing
- Blind spot assist
The drive unit is installed on the door check strap in the door. The door check strap does not have a detent. The drive unit contains the following components:
- Drive motor with transmission and clutch
- Actuator motor with spindle drive with worm gear
- Turning angle sensor
- Drive wheel for door check strap without detent
Function requirement
- Vehicle at standstill (< 5 km/h)
- KEYLESS-GO, power closing function and Blind Spot Assist systems operational
Function
The electrical door opening/closing function is operated via the following control points:
- Button (pull/pressure switch) in the roof lining
- Transmitter key
- Door handle (inside/outside)
- Multimedia system (Front media display, rear media displays)
- Rear MBUX interior assistant (close only)
As safety functions, blockage detection during opening and an automatic reversing function during closing are integrated:
- If an obstacle stops the door while it is opening automatically, the blockage detection system stops the door.
- If an obstacle stops the door while it is closing automatically, the door opens again automatically.
As an additional protection, the exit warning of the Active Blind Spot Assist is used when opening the doors from the inside. If the system detects another road user coming from behind, the door drive system is deactivated and/or a moving door is stopped.
The control point must remain pressed during the door opening procedure. Once the control point is no longer pressed, the door stops. If (depending on the model) the environment detection system of the Parking Assist is used, it is enough to actuate the control point until the door starts moving.
Additional functions:
Courtesy function
The rear doors can be opened or closed via the Front media system.
Comfort function with MBUX interior assistant in the rear
The closing of the doors can started or stopped with a hand movement.
"Tip-to-run" function
If the door is pushed closed from the outside or pulled closed from the inside, it is closed automatically.
