Power Output Limitation, Basic Function - GF08.00-P-1005A
Electric vehicles
General
To protect components of the electric powertrain against overload and component part damage, the electric drive output is limited in certain operating conditions.
Function
The electric drive limits the actual torque or reduces the maximum possible drive torque under the following conditions, for example:
- Overheating of the electric machine
- Overheating of the power electronics control unit
- Low temperature coolant entry temperature too high
- Defective high-voltage battery recognized
- Temperature of the high-voltage battery too low or too high
- Charge level of the high-voltage battery too low
- Current consumption from the high-voltage battery too high
Frequent successive acceleration phases can result in overheating of the electric machine and thus a power output limitation.
Depending on the model, a beginner driver mode can be set via the multimedia system. In beginner driver mode, the vehicle acceleration and thus the drive torque of the electric drive are limited. The available output of the electric drive is shown in the driver display.
