Keyless-Go Door Handle, Basic Function - GF80.61-P-2003A
Model All (CAR)
With Code 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
Overview
This document contains information on:
- General
- Function
General
The respective KEYLESS-GO door handle (1) is located on the outside of the corresponding door.
Example illustration
Depending on the model series, the outside door handle is flush with the door and extendable.
When not in use and while the vehicle is in motion, the outside door handle is retracted so that it is flush with the door. The outside door handle moves by means of an electric motor in a parallel extend movement into its usage position.
The outside door handles are extended in the following situations:
- When the vehicle is unlocked.
- When the vehicle key is detected.
- When a door is opened.
The outside door handles are retracted in the following situations:
- When the vehicle is locked.
- When moving off.
- Following a waiting time.
Function
The following components are integrated in the KEYLESS-GO door handle:
- Proximity switch on the outside of the door handle (recessed sensor area)
- Near-field communication sensor/NFC antenna (driver's door only)
- Capacitive sensor on the inside of the door handle
- Capacitive sensor on the outside of the door handle
- Hall sensor
- Outside door handle lighting (model dependent)
The integrated component parts of the KEYLESS-GO door handles have the following tasks:
- The proximity switch detects when the KEYLESS-GO door handle is touched (comfort closing request while contact is maintained with the door handle).
- The near-field communication sensor on the driver's door allows the door to be locked or unlocked with a cellular phone or the digital key sticker (vehicles with vehicle access and drive authorization via the cellular phone).
- The capacitive sensor on the inside of the door handle detects that the KEYLESS-GO door handle has been grasped (unlock vehicle request).
- The capacitive sensor on the outside of the door handle detects when someone touches the KEYLESS-GO door handle (request to unlock the vehicle or extend the outside door handle).
- The Hall sensor detects when someone pulls on the KEYLESS-GO door handle (servo opening, emergency opening request (reversing during convenience closing), window prompter, interruption of Remote Parking Assist).
- The outside door handle lighting (depending on the vehicle model) illuminates the area around the door handle when the surround lighting is activated.
The electronic ignition lock control unit or the KEYLESS-GO control unit reads in the sensor signals in a model-dependent manner. The model-dependent outside door handle lightings are actuated by the respective door control unit.
