WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove left air filter housing. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test. AR09.10-P-1151MNI
2 Remove hose (2) from exhaust gas turbocharger. SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Fig 3
3 Disconnect coolant hose (3). SPECIAL TOOL Clamp Fig 2
4 Remove coolant hose (3) from low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir and place to one side.   AR09.41-P-0001MNI
5 Remove boot (1) from left exhaust gas turbocharger and place to one side TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, boot to exhaust gas turbocharger/air filter *BA01.20-P-1003-01J 
6 Seal opening of the exhaust gas turbocharger with clean rags.    
7 Drain off coolant. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Do not install center and front lower engine compartment lining until after leak test. AR20.00-P-1142FR
8 Release and disconnect electrical connector of coolant temperature sensor (B11/4).    
9 Unscrew screw (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, temperature sensor bracket to crankcase *BA07.04-P-1002-01Q 
10 Remove coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) with retaining plate (5) in upward direction. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace seal.  
11 Remove retaining plate (5) from coolant temperature sensor (B11/4). When installing new coolant temperature sensor (B11/4).  
12 Install in the reverse order.    
13 Perform a ventilation routine on the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. 14 Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
15 Install the center and front lower engine compartment paneling.   AR61.20-P-1105FRX
16 Install upper engine cover.
