| Remove | |||
| 1 | Disconnect ground line from battery. | AR54.10-P-0051S | |
| 2 | Remove left catalytic converter. | AR49.20-P-0101SVZ | |
| 3 | Remove nut (2), unscrew screws (3) and remove heat shield (1). | ||
| 4 | Remove cover (5). | ||
| 5 | Remove nut (6) and remove circuit 30 electric line (7). | ||
| 6 | Expose circuit 30 electric line (7). | ||
| 7 | Remove cover cap (8). | ||
| 8 | Remove nut (9) and remove circuit 50 electric line (10). | ||
| 9 | Expose circuit 50 electric line (10). | ||
| 10 | Unscrew screws (11) and guide out starter (M1) downwards. | ||
| Check | |||
| 11 | Check pinion (12) of starter (M1) for damage and wear. | If damage or wear is present: ↓ Replace starter (M1). |

| 12 | Check ring gear (13) of drive plate for damage and wear. | If damage and/or wear is present at pinion (12) of starter (M1). |

| 14 | Check hexagon spacer bolt (4) for damage and firm seating. | If there is a problem, ↓ Tighten hexagon spacer bolt (4) or replace. |

| 16 | Install circuit 50 electric line (10) and attach to starter (M1) with nut (9). | *BA15.30-P-1002-01J | |
| 17 | Install cover cap (8). | ||
| 18 | Install circuit 30 electric line (7) and attach to starter (M1) with nut (6). | *BA15.30-P-1001-01J | |
| 19 | Install cover (5). | ||
| 20 | Insert heat shield (1), attach nut (2) and screw in screws (3). | *BA15.30-P-1005-01J | |
