Lower Intake Manifold: Installation

  1. Install new intake manifold gaskets on cylinder heads and position intake manifold in place.
  2. Install four Allen-head intake manifold bolts and four intake manifold nuts.
  3. Tighten all four Allen-head intake manifold bolts and four intake manifold nuts in two steps in sequence. See Fig 1 .

    • Step 1

      27-44 INCH lbs. (3-5 N.m)

    • Step 2

      12-14 INCH lbs. (16-20 N.m)

  4. Connect upper heater hose.
  5. Position fuel injectors in their respective ports and install four Allen-head fuel rail bolts. Tighten Allen-head fuel rail bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Connect coolant bypass hose to intake manifold coolant outlet.
  7. Position fuel line bracket on EGRC solenoid bracket and install fuel line bracket bolt.
  8. Attach main wiring harness bracket to intake manifold coolant outlet.
  9. Connect following electrical connectors:
    • Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control (EGRC) solenoid.
    • Pulse signal generator.
    • Valve body wiring harness.
    • Manual Lever Position (MLP) switch.
    • Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
    • Magnetic clutch.
    • Power transistor.
    • A/C high-pressure switch.
    • Fuel injectors.
    • Ignition coil.
    • Temperature gauge sender.
    • Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  10. Fill and bleed air from cooling system. See COOLANT REFILLING  .
