Headlight Switch Test

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Unplug connector from headlight switch.
  2. Set headlight switch to OFF position. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 7 and 8, between terminals No. 3 and 4, or between terminals No. 2 and 6. See Fig 1 .
  3. Set switch to parking lights position. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 7 and 8, or between terminals No. 3 and 4. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 2 and 6.
  4. Set switch to headlights position. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 7 and 8, between terminals No. 3 and 4, and between terminals No. 2 and 6. Replace switch if continuity is not as specified.
