Coil Spring/Strut Assembly: Removal

  1. Use a grease pencil or suitable marking device and put an alignment mark on the inside of the strut mounting block and the chassis strut tower. See Fig 1 .

  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Remove the two wheel speed sensor cable bracket bolts. See Fig 2 . Position the wheel speed sensor cable out of the way.
  5. Remove the brake hose U-clip. See Fig 3 . Position the brake hose out of the way.

  6. Remove the two strut-to-steering knuckle/wheel hub assembly nuts. See Fig 4 .
  7. Remove the two strut-to-steering knuckle/wheel hub assembly bolts.
  8. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle.
  9. Remove the three mounting block nuts. See Fig 5 .

  10. Remove the coil spring/strut assembly from the vehicle.
  11. If servicing coil spring/strut assembly, see COIL SPRING/STRUT ASSEMBLY  under OVERHAUL.
