Test D: Power Rear Quarter Glass Inoperative

  1. Check Inoperative Power Rear Quarter Glass Motor  - Check operation of power rear quarter glass motor in question. See POWER REAR QUARTER GLASS MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. If left rear quarter glass is inoperative, go to next step. If right rear quarter glass is inoperative, go to step 3). If motor does not operate, replace motor and retest system operation.
  2. Check Left Rear Quarter Glass Switch  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect left rear quarter window switch located in control panel on the roof mounted overhead console. Check switch resistance. See POWER REAR QUARTER GLASS SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to step 4). If switch is defective, replace switch and retest system operation.
  3. Check Right Rear Quarter Glass Switch  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect right rear quarter window switch located in control panel on the roof mounted overhead console. Check switch resistance. See POWER REAR QUARTER GLASS SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace switch and retest system operation.
  4. Check Power Supply To Inoperative Rear Quarter Glass Switch  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect inoperative rear quarter glass switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and rear quarter glass switch connector Orange/Black wire terminal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Orange/Black wire between rear quarter glass switch connector and power window relay. Retest system operation.
  5. Check Inoperative Rear Quarter Glass Switch Ground Circuit  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect inoperative rear quarter glass switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and rear quarter glass switch connector Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair wire(s) between rear quarter glass switch connector and rear quarter window motor. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire and retest system operation.
