Test G: Memory Mirror Is Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Move driver's seat to any position other than full rear and down position. Press memory position buttons No. 1 and 2 at the same time. Seat should move fully rearward and downward. If memory seat moves, go to next step. If memory seat does not move, repair memory seat system as necessary. See POWER SEATS - VILLAGER article.
  2. Operate mirrors using memory function. If driver-side mirror operates properly, go to step  10 . If driver-side mirror does not operate properly, go to next step. If both mirrors do not operate properly, go to step  7 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Seat Module (DSM) 32-pin harness connector C2046A. Disconnect driver-side mirror 5-pin harness connector C502B. Measure resistance of circuits between DSM connector 2046A and mirror connector C502B. See DRIVER'S MIRROR-TO-DSM CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms for all circuits. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in appropriate wire.
    DRIVER'S MIRROR-TO-DSM CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION

Mirror Terminal No. Wire Color DSM Terminal No.
    1 White 2
    2 Blue/White 21
    3 Gray/Red 22
    4 Black/Blue 17
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DSM harness connector C2046A terminals No. 2, 17, 21 and 22. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s). If voltage does not exist at all terminal, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and DSM harness connector C2046A terminals No. 2, 17, 21 and 22. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms at all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less at any terminal, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s).
  6. Disconnect DSM 32-pin connector C2046A, remove terminals No. 21 (Blue/White wire) and No. 22 (Gray/Red wire) from connector block using appropriate tool. Connect DSM harness connector C2046A into DSM. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DSM harness connector C2046A terminal No. 21 (Blue/White wire). See Fig 1 . Operate driver-side mirror in all directions. Move voltmeter lead to terminal No. 22 (Gray/Red wire) and repeat driver-side mirror operation. If voltage varies between zero and about 4 volts at both terminals while operating driver-side mirror, replace DSM. If voltage does not vary between zero and about 4 volts at both terminals while operating driver-side mirror, replace driver-side mirror.

  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver-side mirror 5-pin harness connector C502B. Disconnect Driver's Seat Module (DSM) 32-pin harness connector C2046A. Measure resistance of White wire between DSM harness connector C2046A terminal No. 2 and driver-side mirror harness connector C502B terminal No. 1. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between DSM harness connector C2046A terminal No. 17 and driver-side mirror harness connector C502B terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more in either circuit, repair open or high resistance in appropriate wire.
  8. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DSM harness connector C2046A terminals No. 2 (White wire) and 17 (Black/Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire.
  9. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and DSM harness connector C2046A terminals No. 2 (White wire) and No. 17 (Black/Blue wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less at either terminal, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms at both terminals, replace DSM.
  10. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Seat Module (DSM) harness connector C2046A. Disconnect passenger-side mirror 5-pin harness connector C614B. Measure resistance in circuits between DSM connector 2046A and passenger-side mirror connector C614B. See PASSENGER'S MIRROR-TO-DSM CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION  table. See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms for all circuits. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open or high resistance in appropriate wire.
    PASSENGER-SIDE MIRROR-TO-DSM CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION

Mirror Terminal No. Wire Color DSM Terminal No.
    1 White 2
    2 Blue/Yellow 30
    3 Blue/Red 31
    4 Black/Blue 17
  11. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DSM harness connector 2046A terminals No. 2, 17, 30 and 31. If voltage does not exist at any terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at any terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire(s).
  12. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and DSM harness connector C2046 terminals No. 2, 17, 30 and 31. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less at any circuit, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms at all terminals, go to next step.
