3-4 Clutch: Disassembly

Remove 3-4 pressure plate snap ring. Remove pressure plate, steel clutch discs and friction discs. See Figure . Using appropriate press, compress spring retainer and remove snap ring. Remove compressor, spring retainer, return spring and 3-4 clutch piston from clutch drum. Inspect condition of clutch discs. Measure thickness of friction discs. Thickness should be .063" (1.60 mm). Wear limit is .055" (1.40 mm). Replace friction discs in sets, as needed.
