Test A: System Does Not Operate Properly
NOTE:
Central locking module may also be referred to as Central Security Module (CSM).
- Perform self-test. See SELF-TEST
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If central locking module does not receive an input from all switches, go to appropriate step. See TEST STEP REFERENCE
table. If central locking module receives an input from all switches and vehicle is equipped with interior scanning, go to next step. If central locking module receives an input from all switches and vehicle is not equipped with interior scanning, retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING CODES
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is operating properly at this time.TEST STEP REFERENCE

See appropriate article in REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article. - Partially lower driver's and passenger's window. Arm anti-theft system. Wait approximately one minute. Wave hand by driver's side and passenger's side interior scan sensor. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . If alarm was not triggered at driver's side interior scan sensor, go to next step. If alarm was not triggered at passenger's side interior scan sensor, go to step 4 . If alarm was triggered at both interior scan sensors, retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is operating properly at this time.
- Disconnect driver's side interior scan sensor harness connector. Disconnect central locking module harness connector C451C. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS
. Measure resistance in wires between driver's side interior scan sensor harness connector and central locking module harness connector C451C. See DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR SCAN SENSOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
table. See Fig 1
and Fig 2
. If any resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire. If all resistances are 5 ohms or less, retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING CODES
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved and problem persists, replace driver's side interior scan sensor. Clear DTCs and retest.DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR SCAN SENSOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

. If any resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire. If all resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING CODES
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved and problem persists, replace driver's side interior scan sensor. Clear DTCs and retest.PASSENGER'S SIDE INTERIOR SCAN SENSOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
Interior Scan Sensor Terminal No. Module Terminal No. 1 4 2 8 3 10 4 6 5 3 - Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect central locking module harness connector C451B. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black/Yellow wire) at central locking module harness connector C451B while opening and closing hood. See Fig 3 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less with hood closed and more than 10 k/ohms with hood open. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved and problem persists, replace central locking module. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Disconnect engine compartment switch harness connector. Measure resistance between terminals at engine compartment switch (component side). Resistance should be 5 ohms or less with engine compartment switch in hood closed position and more than 10 k/ohms with engine compartment switch in hood open position. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace engine compartment switch. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at engine compartment switch harness connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between engine compartment switch and ground point (front left side of engine compartment). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between engine compartment switch and central locking module. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Disconnect alarm system horn harness connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure resistance between ground and alarm system horn terminal (Blue/Yellow wire) on component side. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Blue/Yellow wire between alarm system horn and central locking module. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check alarm system horn ground point and clean as necessary. If alarm system horn ground point is okay, replace alarm system horn. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Remove right anti-theft turn signal light relay. Remove left anti-theft turn signal light relay. Test relays. See RELAYS under COMPONENT TESTS. If relays are okay, go to next step. If either relay is defective, replace relay. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Measure voltage between ground and anti-theft alarm flasher relay cavities No. 86 and 30 (Orange wires). See Figure . If battery voltage exists at both measurements, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at either measurement, check fuse No. 7 (20-amp) in Battery Junction Box and/or repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and anti-theft alarm flasher relay cavities No. 87A (Blue/White wire), and No. 87 (Blue/Orange wire). If both resistances are between 0.5-5.0 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is over 5.0 ohms repair open circuit in appropriate wire between anti-theft alarm flasher relay and Central Junction Box (CJB). Clear DTCs and retest.
- Measure resistance between central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 6 (Black/Yellow wire) and anti-theft flasher relay connector terminal No. 85. If resistance is less than 5 ohms ensure that all connections in circuit are good, clear codes and retest. If no codes exist, but symptoms still exist, replace central locking module. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between central locking module and anti-theft flasher relay. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Operate door locks at both doors using inside door lock switch and outside door lock cylinder. If doors lock and unlock correctly, go to next step. If doors do not lock or unlock correctly, refer to SYMPTOM INDEX .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect central locking module harness connector C451B. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between ground and central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 11 while locking driver's and passenger's door with key. See Fig 3 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 16 .
- Measure resistance between ground and central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 15 (Black/White wire) while unlocking driver's and passenger's doors with key. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 17 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, reconnect all components and retest system. If problem still exists, replace central locking module. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Disconnect inoperative door lock motor harness connector. Measure resistance in Black/Blue wire between central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 11 and inoperative door lock motor harness connector terminal No. 5. See Fig 3 and Fig 4 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 11 (Black/Blue wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If both resistance measurements are as specified, replace appropriate door lock motor. If either resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate Black/Blue wire. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Disconnect inoperative door lock motor harness connector. Measure resistance in Black/White wire between central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 15 and inoperative door lock motor harness connector terminal No. 7. See Fig 3 and Fig 4 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and central locking module harness connector C451B terminal No. 15 (Black/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace appropriate door lock motor. If any resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate Black/White wire. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Check courtesy light operation at suspect door ajar switch in 12-second position. If courtesy lights do not operate, repair courtesy lights as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If courtesy lights operate, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between Central Junction Box (CJB) and central locking module if passenger's door did not respond during self-test. Repair open in Black/Blue wire between CJB and central locking module if driver's door did not respond during self-test. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Disconnect liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Measure resistance in Black wire between ground and liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch harness connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch and ground. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Measure resistance between liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch (component side) terminals while using key to unlock liftgate. If resistance in liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch is less than 5 ohms with liftgate key lock cylinder in locked position and more than 10 k/ohms in unlocked position, repair open in Black/Orange wire between liftgate/decklid anti-theft inhibit switch and central locking module. Clear codes and retest. If resistance is 5 ohms or more with liftgate key lock cylinder in locked position and 10 k/ohms or less in unlocked position, install new liftgate key switch. Clear DTCs and retest.
- Place courtesy lights in 12-second position. Open liftgate. If courtesy lights do not operate, repair courtesy lights as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If courtesy lights operate, repair open in Black/Red wire between liftgate/decklid switch harness connector and in-line harness connector C134 located at bottom of passenger side "A" pillar. If courtesy lights do not operate, see ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article for diagnosis and repair.
