Field Test
- Connect ohmmeter across rotor (field) slip rings. Rotor resistance should be 2-3 ohms. If not, rotor is defective. If reading is correct, connect ohmmeter between either slip ring and alternator frame.
- Ohmmeter should indicate infinity. If not, rotor is defective. If reading is correct, install voltage regulator and perform REGULATOR CONTROL VOLTAGE TEST.
