Steering System - Power: Description

The XR4Ti is equipped with power-assisted rack and pinion steering gear. Power assist is provided by an open-center hydraulic system which supplies pressure equally to both ends of the rack cylinder.

The hydraulic pressure is generated by a belt-driven pump mounted on the front of the engine. A torsion bar in the input shaft and pinion assembly centers the valve to supply balanced pressure to the rack cylinder.
