Vane Air Meter Assembly

The vane air meter assembly is mounted on a bracket just below the air cleaner in the lower right corner of the engine compartment. The vane air meter contains 2 sensors that furnish input signals to the EEC. They are an airflow sensor and an air temperature sensor. The vane air meter measures the volume of airflow to the engine. The vane is opened and closed by amount of air entering engine and is connected to a variable resistor (potentiometer). The output of this potentiometer varies depending on the volume of air flowing through the sensor.

The temperature sensor in the air vane measures the incoming air temperature. The air volume and temperature inputs are used by EEC assembly to compute fuel flow (injector pulse duration) necessary for optimum air/fuel mixture.
