Ignition Timing
NOTE:
Timing adjustment on Merkur XR4Ti with EEC-IV is not a normal tune-up procedure.
- Place transmission selector in Park (auto. trans.) or Neutral (man. trans.). Ensure A/C is off. Connect an inductive timing light to No. 1 spark plug wire. Connect an accurate tachometer to engine.
- Disconnect single wire Black connector located near distributor. Start engine and warm up to operating temperature. Check and adjust idle speed. See IGNITION TIMING table.
- After adjustment of timing stop engine. Reconnect single wire Black connector or vacuum hose and remove test equipment.
