Power Port Release Tool
SITUATION
Distribution of the following tool will be through the Automatic Tool Shipment Program. Additional tools may be purchased through your Regional Distribution Center (RDC).

The release tool is used to quickly and easily release the 12 volt power ports if they become damaged.
NOTE:
Remove the fuse for the affected 12 volt power port before using this tool.
Application Notes - Removal
- Fig 2 (View 1) Turn the head (1) of the special tool counterclockwise until it stops and the markings (2) are aligned. In this position, the pressure pins (arrows) are retracted into the body of the tool.
- Fig 2 (View 2) Turn the head (1) clockwise through 90 degrees to extend the pressure pins.
- The tool is automatically aligned in the 12 volt power port (2) by means of the recesses (1).
- The contacts (3 - positive terminals) are not touched.
The 12 volt power port has been removed from the vehicle for clarification.
- Gently insert tool 610 250 into the power port only until a slight resistance is felt. Refer to gap (3) in the illustration. Do not insert the tool into the power port until it stops!
- When light resistance is felt, slowly turn the tool (1) counterclockwise. When the tool lines up properly, it will slide into the power port until the stop.
- Turn the tool clockwise as described above.
- Gently remove the tool with the power port socket attached.
- This procedure is the same if the power port is equipped with a lighting ring.
On vehicle removal application:
- The marks (2) on the tool (1) must be aligned before insertion into the power port socket (3).
- Replace the fuse when finished.
