SITUATION

DSC warning light is illuminated

03054A - QDM - SBS - steering angle effect model fault stored in DSC control unit

CAUSE

Under voltage causes a loss of multi-turn value of the Electric Power Steering (EPS).

CORRECTION

Reset Electronic Power Steering (EPS) control unit via transport mode.

PROCEDURE

  1. Perform a visual inspection of all chassis components for signs of damage such as:
    • Track rod
    • Wheels and tires (for curb damage)

    Is damaged detected? 

    Yes: replace damaged components and then go to step 2.

    No: continue to step 2.

  2. Run the diagnosis with ISTA/Next and work through the corresponding test module. Observe the following:

    EPS Control Unit: 

    • Switch the control unit into the transport mode via diagnosis.
    • Allow the vehicle to enter sleep mode.
    • Deactivate the transport mode.
    • Start-up EPS again (teach-in steering center)
    • Re-initialize steering by turning the steering wheel from stop to stop.

    DSC Control Unit: 

    • Adjust the service function driving dynamic sensors and delete the fault memory.

What is not covered:  Damage, including consequential, which results from negligence, misuse/improper operation of the vehicle, improper repair, lack of or improper maintenance, environmental influences, flood, accident or fire damage, road salt corrosion, or the use of improper fuel as described in the Owner's Manual or contaminated fuel.

Covered under the terms of the MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty or the MINI NEXT/MINI Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty.

32 13 905 Refer to KSD2 Start-up, electrical steering gear (EPS) (after vehicle diagnosis)

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.

Work time labor operation code 61 00 006 is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the "work time" FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.
