CBS reset

NOTE: The CBS maintenance works can be reset on the side of vehicle. It is always recommended to reset the CBS jobs via the diagnostic system.
The coding of the country-specific legal intervals is only possible with the diagnostic system.

Front/rear brake service: 

A CBS reset is only possible in the vehicle with a sanded brake pad wear sensor (CBS display in CID active).

With a non-sanded brake pad wear sensor (no CBS display in CID), CBS reset is only possible with the diagnostic system.

Further known causes of an incorrect CBS reset:

CBS reset with diagnostic system 

NOTE: To be able to check or correct the vehicle's onboard date properly, the diagnostic system requires the correctly set tester system date!
The jobs may only be reset after the service activity has been completed.
The CBS jobs can be reset via the diagnostic system under the following path:

CBS reset in the car 

The maintenance works on the instrument cluster can be reset on the side of the vehicle.

NOTE: On-board date must be correctly set.
A reset is only possible in the car if:
  • no CC message is present
  • availability of the service job is under 90 %

Resetting of a service job must always be carried out after  a maintenance measure has been completed.
The process of resetting is aborted by a timeout or a terminal change.

When using the analog KOMBI 

  1. Switch on ignition.
  2. Press the trip distance recorder reset button (1) (hereinafter referred to as button) for approx. 10 s until the 1st maintenance work appears in the display (2).

    The next position is reached by briefly pressing the button again. Select the desired service job.

  3. If a reset is possible, this is displayed in the instrument cluster as "Reset can be carried out?.

    Press the button for 3 s to start the reset.

  4. Confirm text message "Perform reset?" by pressing the button for 3 seconds again.

    The status of the reset is indicated by a progress bar and text as "Reset in progress" on the display.

  5. The reset is confirmed as "Reset successful" after completion.

When using the digital KOMBI 

  1. Generate PWF status "Residing".
  2. Generate PWF status "PAD": For this purpose, press the START-STOP button three times.
  3. Press trip distance recorder reset button (1) for approx. 10 s, until the 1st maintenance work appears on the display. The next position is reached by briefly pressing the trip distance recorder reset button (1) again.

  4. Select the desired service job. If a CBS reset is possible, "Reset possible" is displayed in the instrument cluster (KOMBI).
  5. Confirm the "Perform reset?" text message. For this purpose, hold down the trip distance recorder reset button (1) for 3 s.
  6. The CBS reset is confirmed as "Reset successful" after completion.

The target date for the statutory vehicle inspection is entered by clicking on the job with the controller in the CBS main menu of the Central Information Display under:
