ECI CEC System: Diagnosis: Self-Diagnosis: Notes

  1. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Use the diagnosis adapter to connect ECI checker to the diagnosis connector located on right cowl (next to ECU).
  2. Set check switch to "5" and select switch to "B". Turn ignition on. If system is in normal condition, pointer of check meter constantly indicates 12 volts.
  3. If there is any abnormality in the memory, the pointer of voltmeter will swing back and forth to indicated the trouble code of the problem. The number of deflections indicates problem listed in chart.
  4. There is a .4 second pause between pointer sweeps of any specific trouble code, and a .2 second pause between various trouble codes. Check and repair each abnormal item listed. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. After repairing defective parts, disconnect battery ground cable for 15 seconds or more to erase ECU memory.
NOTE: Before battery terminals are disconnected, make sure that ignition is off. If terminals are disconnected while engine is running or ignition is on, computer or semiconductors could be damaged.
