ISSUE & TIP

A complaint of an engine miss or skip during light acceleration on 1989-90 Mitsubishi Galant and Mirage models may not be engine-related. Dirty transmission fluid may cause the automatic transmission's locking torque converter clutch to slip or shudder under these conditions. We have found this problem on Galants and Mirages that had mileage in the 30,000 mile range. Replacing the transmission fluid with clean fluid corrected the problem.
