Code 15: Wheel Speed Sensor

  1. Disconnect speed sensor harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between sensor terminals. Resistance should be 420-520 ohms. Check resistance between sensor terminals and sensor body. Resistance should be greater than 100,000 ohms. Replace sensor as needed. If measurements are within specification, go to next step.
  2. Check continuity between speed sensor and ECU. Disconnect ECU harness connector. Connect jumper wire between speed sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and vehicle ground. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between ECU terminal No. 14 and vehicle ground. See Figure . If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
  3. Connect jumper wire between speed sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire) and vehicle ground. Check continuity between ECU terminal No. 13 and vehicle ground. See Figure . If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
  4. If after all tests have been completed system still does not function properly, substitute ECU with known good unit and retest system.
