Diagnostic Tests: Notes
CAUTION:
Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position when performing resistance tests.
NOTE:
Perform all resistance and voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedures.
NOTE:
For wire color identification at PCM terminals, see appropriate PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS - 2.0L TURBO
article.
Using scan tool, display and record trouble codes. See ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no codes are displayed, Refer to the appropriate TESTS W/O CODES - 2.0L TURBO article.
Clear trouble codes. See CLEARING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Road test vehicle (if necessary) and attempt to duplicate conditions that caused original complaint. Recheck for codes. If no codes are displayed, go to INTERMITTENT FAULTS . If one or more codes are displayed, repair codes in order starting with lowest numbered code. Clear codes after each repair. Recheck for codes to confirm repair.
NOTE:
Multi-Use Tester II (MUT II) has 2 modes of operation. General scan mode and scan tool (MUT II) mode. Perform all testing using general scan mode, unless stated otherwise in test procedures.
