Test No. 1
- Install Scan Tool (MB991502). Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions. Turn ignition on. Operate passing switch twice or more within 5 seconds. If system goes into the simplified fault diagnostic mode, go to next step. If system does not go into simplified fault diagnostic mode, go to TEST NO. 2.
- Check voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 16 (Red/Black wire). If battery voltage is present, go to step 4). If battery voltage is not present, check circuit between power supply and DLC. Repair as necessary.
- Check continuity between ground and DLC terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black wire). If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, check circuit between power supply and DLC. Repair as necessary.
- Check circuit between DLC terminal No. 1 (Green/Red wire) and instrument panel ECU terminal No. 16 (Green/Red wire); between DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and instrument panel ECU terminal No. 37 (Black wire); between DLC terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire) and instrument panel ECU terminal No. 17 (Brown/White wire). Repair as necessary. If circuits are okay, replace instrument panel ECU.
