If clockspring fails any check, replace with a NEW clockspring.

  1. Check connectors and protective tube for damage and deformities. Visually check case for damage or deformities.
  2. Continuity should be present between the following connectors and terminals:
    • Connector No. 1, connector No. 2, and connector No. 4.
    • Connector No. 1, terminal No. 1 and connector No. 4, terminal No. 1.
    • Connector No. 1, terminal No. 2 and connector No. 4, terminal No. 3.
    • Connector No. 1, terminal No. 3 and connector No. 4, terminal No. 2.
    • Connector No. 1, terminal No. 4 and connector No. 2 , terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 .
  3. Insert fine end of Circuit Tester (MB991222) probe into clockspring connector No. 3. See Fig 2 . Connect circuit tester and check that resistance is less than one ohm with circuit closed and more than one ohm with circuit open.
