Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect APP sensor 4-pin harness connector. APP sensor is located on the throttle body.
2. Measure resistance between APP sensor terminals No. 1 and 4. See Fig 1. Resistance should be 3.5-6.5 k/ohms depending on throttle position.
3. Observe DVOM while pressing accelerator pedal to wide-open throttle. Resistance should change smoothly without dropout from lower to upper resistance value.
4. If resistance is not as specified or does not change smoothly, replace APP sensor. See ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
