Ignition Switch

Remove driver's side instrument panel lower cover. Remove steering column upper and lower covers. Disconnect ignition switch 6-pin connector. While turning ignition switch through all positions, check for continuity between indicated ignition switch connector terminals. See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  table. See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist as indicated, replace ignition switch.

Ignition Switch Position Check For Continuity Between Connector Terminals No.
LOCK (1)
ACC 1 & 6
ON 1, 2, 4 & 6
START 1, 2 & 5
(1) Continuity should not exist between any ignition switch terminals.
