DTC P1603: Battery Backup Circuit Malfunction: Notes

NOTE: When engine is started with the IOD or storage connector disconnected, the ECM (M/T) or PCM (A/T) judges that an open circuit has occurred in the battery backup line. Consequently, the SER volt ICE ENGINE SOON/MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT illuminates and DTC is stored in memory.
