Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Check

  1. Drain the engine coolant (Refer to ENGINE COOLANT ).
  2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor.
  3. Immerse the unit in 70°C (158°F) water to measure the resistance.

    Standard value: 104 ± 13.5 Ω

  4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Reinstall it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge (Refer to TRANSFER OIL CHANGE ). If not within the standard value, replace it.
  5. Apply the specified sealant to the thread of the engine coolant temperature sensor, and then tighten it to the specified torque.

    Specified Sealant: 3M™ AAD part number 8731 or equivalent 

  6. Add engine coolant (Refer to ENGINE COOLANT ).
