Check for continuity between the terminals of the switch.

CONNECTOR TERMINAL CHART

MEASUREMENT CONDITION	TERMINAL CONNECTOR OF TESTER	SPECIFIED CONDITION
When brake pedal is depressed.	1 - 2 (for stoplight switch)	Continuity (Less than 2 ohms)
When brake pedal is depressed.	3 - 4 (for normally closed brake switch)	Open circuit
When brake pedal is not depressed.	1 - 2 (for stoplight switch)	Open circuit
When brake pedal is not depressed.	3 - 4 (for normally closed brake switch)	Continuity (Less than 2 ohms)
