Transaxle Fluid Change
- As shown in the figure below, create two types of L-shaped fluid level inspection tools.
- Remove the filler plug and gasket.
- Remove the drain plug and gasket, to drain the fluid.
- Install the drain plug and new gasket, and tighten to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 35 ± 4 N.m (26 ± 2 ft-lb)
- Fill the fluid up to the lower edge of the filler plug hole.
Brand name: MITSUBISHI MOTORS GENUINE ATF SP III
Quantity: Approximately 2.47 dm 3 (2.61 qt)
NOTE:- If the front transaxle assembly or the valve body assembly is replaced, refill the fluid and then install the filler plug with the gasket.
- Quantity: Approximately 2.1 dm3 (2.22 qt)
- Drive the vehicle at 40 km/h (24.9 mph) for at least five minutes, and then refill the fluid up to the lower edge of the filler plug hole.
- Quantity: Addition of approximately 0.4 dm3 (0.42 qt)
- If the front transaxle assembly or the valve body assembly is replaced, refill the fluid and then install the filler plug with the gasket.
- Remove 0.195 dm3 (0.21 qt) of fluid from the filler plug hole.
- Insert the fluid level inspection tool into the filler plug hole and check to make sure the fluid level is within the upper and lower limits.
- If the fluid level is not appropriately within the upper and lower limits, repeat steps 5 through 7.
- Install the filler plug and new gasket, and tighten to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 32 ± 2 N.m (24 ± 1 ft-lb)
