Fuel Injection Pump: Removal
- Disconnect battery negative terminal and drain coolant. Disconnect accelerator cable, wires, and hoses from pump. Remove pump timing belt dust cover. Rotate engine so that No. 1 piston is TDC on compression stroke.
- Loosen pump timing belt tensioner and remove belt. Remove injection pipes from pump and cylinder head. Holding pulley with tool (KV10109300), remove the nut and washer securing the injection pump pulley. See Fig 1 .
- Using a gear puller, disengage the sprocket from the pump shaft. Remove pump-to-bracket mounting nuts and remove pump.
NOTE:
Protect the timing belt against undue stress (twisting and bending) and oil contamination. After belt removal do not rotate crankshaft.
