Glow Control Unit
- To test pre-glow control, connect a test lamp to control unit. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to the "OFF" position for more than 1 minute, then turn ignition switch to "ON" position. Test lamp should remain lit for 2-7 seconds.
- To test after glow control, connect test lamp to control unit. See Figure . Disconnect "S" terminal from starter. Measure time the test lamp stays on, when the ignition switch is turned from the "START" position to "ON" position.
- When coolant temperature is above approximately 122°F (50°C), light should not light. Below approximately 68°F (20°C), light should stay on approximately 20-50 seconds. Between the 2 temperatures light should stay on approximately 20 seconds.
- To test glow indicator control, connect test lamp to control unit. See Figure . Test lamp should remain lit for approximately 1-7 seconds when ignition switch is turned from the "OFF" position to the "ON" position.
