Glow Plug Control Unit System
NOTE:
Manufacturer recommends that system be checked as a single unit.
- Check battery, fusible links, fuse, ignition switch and relay for proper operation.
- If engine fails to start or is hard to start, check fuel level, supply system or starter motor. If okay, check if glow lamp comes on. If not, check for burnt out bulb. If okay, check water temperature sensor. Replace if faulty. If water temperature sensor is good, check glow plug control unit. Replace if faulty.
- If glow lamp comes on, check charge lamp. If charge lamp does not come on, alternator "L" terminal is loose or disconnected or there is an open in the harness.
- If charge lamp is on, check glow plug. If glow plug is good, check glow plug relay 1, glow plug relay 2, dropping resistor and then the glow plug control unit.
