Inhibitor Switch System Test (300ZX)

  1. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ECM harness connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. Move shift lever through gears. Zero volts should be present in Neutral and Park positions, and 8-9 volts should be present in all other positions. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, system is functioning properly.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect ECM harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Disconnect and inspect A/T control unit harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary.
  3. Check continuity of Yellow/Blue wire between ECM harness connector terminal No. 44 and A/T control unit harness connector terminal No. 13. Continuity should exist. If continuity exists, check inhibitor switch. See INHIBITOR SWITCH TEST (MAXIMA VE30DE, PICKUP & 300ZX). If continuity does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Blue wire or connectors.
