Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor

  1. Faults in exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit should set DTC P1401. To test system, see DTC P1401 - EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR diagnostic procedures in the TESTS W/CODES article.
  2. To test sensor, place sensor in boiling water at 212°F (100°C). Resistance at 212°F (100°C) should be 76,770-93,830 ohms. As temperature increases, sensor resistance should decrease. If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.
