Ignition Switch On Signal Check

NOTE: If scan tool is not available, begin testing at step  2 .
  1. Using scan tool, select IGN ON SW in DATA MONITOR mode. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . Scan tool should display IGN ON SW ON with ignition on, and IGN ON SW OFF with ignition off. If scan tool display is as specified, ignition switch ON signal is okay. If scan tool display is not as specified, go to step  3 .
  2. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 27 (Pink/Green wire) at 16-pin BCM harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . DVOM should indicate battery voltage with ignition switch in ON position, and zero volts with ignition switch in ACC or OFF position. If voltage is as specified, ignition switch ON signal is okay. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  3. Check condition of fuse No. 12 (7.5-amp), located in fuse block. Check for open or short in wiring harness between fuse and BCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary.
