Power Window Regulator Check

NOTE: If scan tool is not available, begin testing at step  2 .
  1. Using scan tool, select P/W MOTOR parameter in ACTIVE TEST mode. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . Perform operation shown on scan tool display. If power window motor operates, power window regulator is okay. If power window motor does not operate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and specified terminals at LCU harness connectors while operating appropriate switch. See LCU OUTPUT SIGNAL TEST  table. Battery voltage should be present at each terminal when switch is pressed. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace malfunctioning LCU.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect power window regulator motor harness connector in question. Using fused jumper wires, apply 12-volt source to motor terminals. Motor should operate. Reverse jumper wires. Motor should operate in opposite direction. Replace motor if operation is not as specified. If motor operation is as specified, check for open or short in wiring harness between power window switch and motor in question. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary.
