Models With Multi-Remote Control System

  1. Check Door Switches Input Signal

Using Nissan CONSULT-II scan tool, check door switches status (DOOR SW-ALL) in DATA MONITOR mode. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool indicates switch status ON with doors open and OFF with doors closed, door switches are okay. If status is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Check Left Front Door Switch Input Signal

Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 29 (Red wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector (backprobe connector). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Approximately 5 volts should be present with left front door closed, and zero volts with left front door open. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step  4 .
  3. Check Other Door Switches Input Signal

Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 28 (Red/White wire) at SECU harness connector. Approximately 5 volts should be present with any door closed, and zero volts with any door open. If voltage is as specified, door switches are okay. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  4. Check Left Front Door Switch

Turn ignition off. Disconnect door switch harness connectors. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and 3 (Black wire). Continuity should exist when door is open and not exist when door is closed. If continuity is not as specified, replace door switch. If continuity is as specified, check door switch ground circuit and connection. Check for open or short in Red wire between door switch and SECU. Repair as necessary.
  5. Check Right Front & Rear Door Switches

Turn ignition off. Disconnect door switch harness connectors. Check for continuity between ground and right front switch terminal No. 1 (Red/White wire) or rear switch (+) terminal (Red/White wire). Continuity should exist when door is open and not exist when door is closed. If continuity is not as specified, replace door switch. If continuity is as specified, check door switch ground connection. Check for open or short in Red/White wire between door switch and SECU. Repair as necessary.
