Models With Multi-Remote Control System

NOTE: If Nissan CONSULT-II scan tool is not available, go to step 2).

  1. Check Key Switch Input Signal

Using Nissan CONSULT-II scan tool, check key switch status (KEY ON SW) in DATA MONITOR mode. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool indicates switch status ON with key inserted into ignition switch and OFF with key removed, key switch is okay. If status is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Check Key Switch Input Signal

Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 32 (Blue/White wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector (backprobe connector). Battery voltage should be present with key inserted in ignition switch, and zero volts with key removed. If voltage is as specified, key switch (insert) is okay. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  3. Check Key Switch

Check for continuity between key switch terminals. Continuity should exist when key is inserted in ignition switch and not exist when key is removed. Replace key switch if continuity is not as specified. If continuity is as specified, check fuse No. 10 (10-amp). Check for open or short in wiring harness between key switch and fuse No. 10. Check for open or short in wiring harness between key switch and SECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
