Models With Multi-Remote Control System

NOTE: If Nissan CONSULT-II scan tool is not available, go to step 2).

  1. Check Door Key Cylinder Switch Input Signal, Lock/Unlock Signal

    Using Nissan CONSULT-II scan tool, check door key cylinder switch status (KEY CYL LK-SW and KEY CYL UN-SW) in DATA MONITOR mode. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Scan tool should indicate switch status KEY CYL LK-SW ON with key inserted into door lock/unlock switch turned to LOCK position and KEY CYL UN-SW ON with door lock/unlock switch turned to UNLOCK position. If status is not as specified, go to next step. If status is as specified, switch is okay.

  2. Check Door Key Cylinder Switch Input Signal, Lock/Unlock Signal

    Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 30 (White/Blue wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector (backprobe connector). Battery voltage should be present with front door key cylinder switch in NEUTRAL/LOCK position and zero volts with switch in UNLOCK position. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to step  4 .
  3. Measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 41 (Light Green/Red wire) at SECU harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Battery voltage should be present with front door key cylinder switch in NEUTRAL/UNLOCK position and zero volts with switch in LOCK position. If voltage is as specified, front door key cylinder switches are okay. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.

  4. Check Door Key Cylinder Switch

    Disconnect front door key cylinder switch harness connectors. Check for continuity between specified terminals of each switch while operating switch. See FRONT DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH TEST  table. Replace switch if continuity is not as specified. If continuity is as specified, check switch ground circuit (Black wire). Check for open or short in wiring harness between switch and SECU. Repair as necessary.
