Pinion/Clutch Inspection

  1. Inspect pinion gear teeth and ring gear teeth. Replace pinion if teeth are worn or damaged.
  2. Inspect reduction gear teeth and armature shaft gear teeth. Replace reduction gear if teeth are damaged or excessively worn.
  3. Pinion should rotate smoothly in one direction and lock in opposite direction. Replace pinion if abnormal resistance is felt.
