Power Brake Unit Input & Output Rod

- Adjust the length of the input rod by loosening the lock nut so that the dimensions shown match the standard value. See Fig 1 . See POWER BRAKE UNIT INPUT & OUTPUT ROD LENGTH SPECIFICATIONS table. Tighten the lock nut temporarily and install the booster assembly in the vehicle.
- Attach a hand-held vacuum pump to power brake unit supply port. Apply 20 in. Hg vacuum to power brake unit. Add preload of 4.4 lbs. (2 kg) to output rod. Measure length of output rod extending from power brake unit housing. See Fig 2 .
- See POWER BRAKE UNIT INPUT & OUTPUT ROD LENGTH SPECIFICATIONS table. Adjust output rod length if necessary. If output rod length cannot be adjusted properly, replace power brake unit.
