Stall Speed Test: Notes

NOTE: Condition of high clutch and brake band cannot be confirmed by stall speed test.
  1. Check engine and transaxle fluid levels. Ensure engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperatures. Set parking brake and block wheels.
  2. CAUTION: DO NOT hold wide-open throttle for more than 5 seconds during test.
  3. Install tachometer. Start engine, apply service brake and move gearshift lever to "D" position. Accelerate to wide-open throttle gradually while applying foot brake. Note engine stall speed and release accelerator pedal immediately. Compare readings with specification. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Place gearshift lever in "N" position and run engine at idle for 2 minutes to allow transaxle to cool. Repeat stall speed test procedure in "2", "1" and "R" positions, allowing transaxle to cool between each test. If stall speed is not within specification, diagnose as necessary. See STALL SPEED TEST RESULTS .
