Intermittent Codes Using Consult Tester

NOTE: Intermittent and past codes cannot be retrieved using AIR BAG warning light.
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below fuse block under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Touch START on CONSULT tester. Touch AIR BAG. Touch SELF-DIAG (PAST).
  2. If SELF-DIAG (PAST) mode indicates codes are present, see INTERMITTENT FAULT MESSAGES  . Go to next step. If no codes are indicated, touch BACK until SELECT DIAG MODE is displayed. Touch TROUBLE DIAG RECORD. Any codes previously erased will be displayed. See INTERMITTENT FAULT MESSAGES  . Go to next step.
  3. Touch PRINT. Touch BACK until SELECT SYSTEM appears. Turn ignition off. Turn off CONSULT tester. Disconnect CONSULT tester from DLC. Disconnect both battery cables. After repair is completed, codes must be cleared. See CLEARING CODES  .
NOTE: System will not enter DIAGNOSTIC mode if no malfunction is detected in USER mode.
