Test I: Room Lamp Assembly Does Not Go Off

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus ES 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Perform the ACTIVE TEST by the hand-held tester. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main SW ON. Select the item ILLUMI OUTPUT in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the interior lamp. If the lamp SW ON is in tester and the lamp lights up, go to the next step. If the results are not good, check and replace the driver side junction block assembly.
  2. Check the driver side junction block assembly. See Fig 1. Measure the voltage between terminals when opening the left front door only. See MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL B6-1 VOLTAGE  table. If the results are OK, check and replace the driver side junction block assembly. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL B6-1 VOLTAGE

Front Door LH Tester Connection Specified Condition
Close B6-1 (DCTY) - 2A-8 (GND) Signal Waveform
    Open B6-1 (DCTY) - 2A-8 (GND) Below 1 Volt
  3. Inspect the driver side door front door courtesy lamp switch continuity. When the switch is operated, check that there is continuity between terminal No. 1 and body ground. The standard results are when the shaft is pressed (ON) there is not continuity and when the shaft is not pressed (OFF) there is continuity. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the front driver side door courtesy lamp switch assembly.
  4. Check the harness and connector between the driver side junction block assembly and front door courtesy lamp switch. Disconnect the connector of the multiplex network body ECU. Check the continuity between B6-1 (DCTY) and body ground. If there is continuity, go to the next step. If there is not continuity, repair or replace the harness or connector.
  5. Check the driver side junction block assembly. Check that the signal waveform appears between terminals when opening the right front door only. See MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-11 VOLTAGE  table. If the results are OK, check and replace the driver junction block assembly. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-11 VOLTAGE

Front Door RH Tester Connection Specified Condition
Close B4-11 (PCTY) - 2A-8 (GND) Signal Waveform
    Open B4-11 (PCTY) - 2A-8 (GND) Below 1 Volt
  6. Inspect the passenger side front door courtesy lamp switch continuity. Check that the continuity exists between terminal No. 1 and body ground when the switch is operated. The standard results are when the shaft is pressed (ON) there is no continuity and when the shaft is not pressed (OFF) there is continuity. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the passenger side front door courtesy lamp switch.
  7. Check the harness and connector between the driver side junction block assembly and front door courtesy lamp switch. Disconnect the connector of the multiplex network body computer. Check the continuity between terminal No. B4-11 (PCTY) and body ground. If there is continuity, go to the next step. If there is not continuity, repair or replace the harness or connector.
  8. Check the driver side junction block assembly. Check that the signal waveform appears between terminals when opening the left rear door only. See MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-14 VOLTAGE  table. If the results are OK, check and replace the driver side junction block assembly. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-14 VOLTAGE

Rear Door LH Tester Connection Specified Condition
Close B4-14 (RRCY) - 2A-8 (GND) Signal Waveform
    Open B4-14 (RRCY) - 2A-8 (GND) Below 1 Volt
  9. Inspect the right rear door courtesy lamp switch continuity. Check that the continuity exists between terminal No. 1 and body ground when the switch is operated. The standard results are when the shaft is pressed (ON) there is no continuity and when the shaft is not pressed (OFF) there is continuity. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the right rear door courtesy lamp switch assembly.
  10. Check the harness and connector between the driver side junction block assembly and the right rear door courtesy lamp switch. Disconnect the connector of the multiplex network body ECU. Check the continuity between B4-14 (RRCY) and body ground. If there is continuity, go to the next step. If there is not continuity, repair or replace the harness or connector.
  11. Check the driver side junction block assembly. Check that the signal waveform appears between terminals when opening the right rear door only. See MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-12 VOLTAGE  table. If the results are OK, check and replace the driver side junction block assembly. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
MEASURING DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK TERMINAL NO. B4-12 VOLTAGE

Rear Door RH Tester Connection Specified Condition
Close B4-12 (RLCY) - 2A-8 (GND) Signal Waveform
    Open B4-12 (RLCY) - 2A-8 (GND) Below 1 Volt
  12. Inspect the left rear door courtesy lamp switch continuity. Check that the continuity exists between terminal No. 1 and body ground when the switch is operated. The standard results are when the shaft is pressed (ON) there is no continuity and when the shaft is not pressed (OFF) there is continuity. If the results are OK, repair or replace the harness or connector between the driver side junction block assembly and courtesy lamp switch. If the results are not good, replace the left rear door courtesy lamp switch assembly.
