Without Scan Tool

- Turn ignition switch off. Set each test item to condition 1 as shown in illustration. See Figure.
- Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Ts and CG of (DLC3). See Figure.
- Start engine. At this time the absorber control indicator light illuminates for 2 seconds. Then it flashes at .25 second intervals. If the absorber control indicator does not flash, check Ts terminal circuit. See TEST E: Ts TERMINAL CIRCUIT .
- Change each test item to condition 2. See Figure. Check that absorber control indicator light illuminates for one second.
- Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Tc and CG of (DLC3). See Figure. Keep the connection between Ts and CG.
- Read DTC output by the flashing pattern on absorber control indicator light. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC is not signaled, check the Tc terminal circuit. See TEST C: Tc TERMINAL CIRCUIT .
- Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect special tools.
