Final Check Using Consult Tester

  1. After system is repaired, connect both battery cables. Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Touch START on CONSULT tester. Touch AIR BAG. Touch SELF-DIAG (CURRENT). If no fault message is present, repair is complete. Go to next step. If fault message is present, problem has not been repaired or another problem is present. Go to PRESENT FAULT MESSAGES  . Complete required repair.
  2. Touch ERASE. Touch BACK until SELECT DIAG MODE appears. Touch SELF-DIAG (PAST). Ensure no fault message is present. Touch BACK until SELECT SYSTEM appears. This returns system to USER mode from DIAGNOSIS mode. Turn off CONSULT tester and disconnect from DLC. Turn ignition off. Go to SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
